Charles moved to Arizona when he was 11 years old and helped his father and brothers on a homestead outside of Phoenix. He was a Boy Scout and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated in 1932 from Phoenix Union High School and attended Phoenix College. While he attended high school he served in the National Guard. He attended Capitol College of Pharmacy in Denver and graduated in 1938. His career spanned over 35 years as a registered Pharmacist and including serving as President of the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy. He owned a number of Arizona pharmacies during his career: Dudding's Rexall Drugs in Holbrook, Rex Pharmacy in Tucson, Sam Manuel Drug, and Plaza Pharmacy in Flagstaff. In between periods of pharmacy ownerships he also held a position as an Inspector for the Arizona State board of Pharmacy. While living in Holbrook, AZ, he took up flying and formed an aero club which he enjoyed immensely. He was very active in the communities he lived in and held various leadership positions in a number of civic and professional clubs such as Lions Club, Rotary, Masonic Order, Shriners, and served on board of Southwest Chapter of AARP, as well as holding the office of President of Los Olivos Senior Center. John Dudding, a sophomore at Roane County High School, beat out 10th, 11th and 12 graders from an eight-county area to win 1st place in the Region V Math Field Day Saturday in Parkersburg.

Dudding, who has claimed first place in the regional each year since he became eligible in the 4th grade, will now participate in the State Math Field Day to be held April 20 at West Liberty State College. In past state competitions, Dudding won 1st place in the 5th grade and again last year as a freshman. He also was state runner-up as a 4th grader, placed 3rd in the state as a 6th grader and finished 4th in the 8th grade. He also qualified for the state competition in the 7th grade, but did not place in the top five in the state.
